about
EUTONIA
Muscle tone is the continuous activation function between the nervous system and muscles throughout the body.
Before neurological mapping technologies, muscle tone was considered an involuntary function, regulated exclusively by unconscious processes. The discoveries of researchers such as Ragnar Granit and Birger Kaada (Norway, 1946), Sten Grillner (Sweden, 1977), Barry Wyke (England, 1977), Henri Wallon (France, 1957), among others, provided the basis for the research of Gerda Alexander (Germany/Denmark) on the pathways of the subject's influence in muscle tone.
Based on a proposal by Dr. Alfred Bartussek (Germany) in the 1950s, the union of the radicals "eu" = "good" and "tonia" = "tone" or "tension" was adopted, in opposition to the concept of dystonia. From deep relaxation to intense activity, EUTONIA corresponds to good tone for the action or situation experienced, in a wide spectrum of possibilities.
According to Longe (2005), Eutonia by Gerda Alexander was the first mind-body discipline adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an alternative health care technique (currently called Complementary and Alternative Medicine), in 1987.

ACESSIBILITY
Attention to cognitive and motor limitations
DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS
Methodology adapted to age
SENSORY SENSITIVITY
Through touch via clothing or simply through verbal guidance.
ABOUT THE
BENEFITS
Eutonia is used as a complementary/integrative therapy in the re-education and rehabilitation processes of neuromotor limitations, with emphasis on local and global dystonias (Hypotonia, Elastic Hypertonia or Spasticity, Plastic Hypertonia or Rigidity).
The sessions are both therapeutic and educational in nature; that is, the stimuli are designed to be integrated by the person into their daily life. Sessions can be individual or in groups, in person or online.
The benefits of Eutonia have been reported in processes such as:
Changes in motor control
Body awareness and rehabilitation in cases of disability or injury
Balance
Static and dynamic postural balance for activities of daily living, sports, arts, etc.
Cardiorespiratory disorders
Global tone balance benefiting the autonomic nervous system
Chronic tension
Recognition of tension patterns in muscle groups and release through muscle tone
Fibromyalgia
Pain management and assimilation of guided attention practices.
Attention deficits and hypersensitivity
Sensory integration for activities of daily living and trigger situations.
Psychosomatic processes
Regulation of sleep, depressive episodes, neuroses, stress ("burnout"), etc.
Communication
Tone adjustment for acting, dancing, sports, singing, musical performance, martial arts, athletics, lectures, etc.
